PATROL DIVISION

The patrol division makes up the largest portion of the police department and consists of 16 officers on three different shifts.The patrol division is the backbone of our police department and has many responsibilities, which include traffic enforcement; traffic accident investigation; preliminary case investigations, many of which they follow from the beginning to the end. The officers work ten hour shifts with rotating days off. First shift officers work 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, second shift works 4:00 pm to 2:00 am and third shift works 9:00 pm to 7:00 am.The patrol division is commanded by Major Ray Lewis and  Lt. Chris Brandon.

The Bardstown Police Department will be going to patrol districts. A patrol officer or officers will be assigned a specific area (district) to patrol during their shift to help prevent criminal activity. The officer's photo will be posted in the district that they will be patroling.
